Audio Restoration Plug-In - HELP !

RickyFL wrote on 11/16/2006, 3:49 PM
Hello there,

I joined the Vegas Movie Studio+DVD family last year when I purchased and started using the regular version of this software, which came with DVD Architect 2.0. I had no problems using this software and all audio & video plug-ins / tools worked perfectly at all times.

Recently, I decided to go for the upgrade and purchased the Platinum Edition, which comes with DVD Architect 4.0. I just installed both softwares, but first I proceeded to uninstall the old versions of these softwares since I wasn't sure if leaving them (both) would create a conflict.

I started playing around with the Platinum Edition right away and it looks good and all, but I noticed that the "Audio Restoration Plug-In", which I use a lot, appears to be a DEMO version or something like that. I don't know why, but every time that I put it to use I get a loud and very annoying intermittent "beep" sound during playback and it's caused by this plug-in (tool) - it doesn't happen with any other plug-in (so far).

The problem is that the "beep" sound gets recorded along with the footage if I proceeded to render it. I gave it a try and after I played the rendered video, the audio along with the intermittent "beep" were there.

Honestly, it's driving me crazy and I don't know what to do to eliminate the "beeping". Is this because this plug-in, although it came with the software, appears to be a DEMO (or so it says right next to its name when selected)?

The previous version of Vegas Movie Studio+DVD also came with this plug-in but it worked perfectly and I used it all the time sucessfully - I don't understand why it is giving me this problem in the Platinum Edition - it shouldn't be!

Am I missing something here - is this plug-in only a DEMO?

How do I get rid of this "beep" sound if I need to use the Audio Restoration Plug-In (tool) in order to do some cleaning to the audio?

Or how do I unlock the full version of it (if it's a demo) so I can use it at its full capacity without problems?

Any help or guidance will be greatly appreciated. HELP please!!!

Thanks in advance,

Ricky

Hi,
The beep proves you have a demo version of the plug-in. I have VMS + DVD play 6, so maybe you have 7? Whatever, my restoration plug-in doesn't do that.
Have you actually registered the upgrade and entered the activation code for all parts of the product?

Hi,

Thanks for your reply. That's what I thought too - that it was a demo version of the plug-in.

I registered the software (VMS Platinum Edition) online with its serial number right away and everything works at full capacity except for the Audio Restoration plug-in, which appears to be the DEMO.

Am I supposed to register the plug-ins separately from the software, and if so, how do I do that? The only 2 serial numbers that I got with the software were one for VMS and one for the DVD Architech 4.0 that came with it.

Should I uninstall everything and re-install it again?

Thanks,

Ricky

You shouldn't need to do that, I have seen specific instructions somewhere about what to do when this happens, but unfortunately I can't remember where/what they are. Just wanted to alert you quickly before you do anything unnecessary.

PS - You need to use the 'Migration Tools' which should have been installed with VMS. One of these re-registers Directx plug-ins (in the Windows registry, slightly confusing multiple use of 'register') which might have been re-set to demo mode when you installed your new VMS.

Did you ever get a resolution to this question? I seem to have the same issue of the audio restoration plug-in being a demo version which emits that same tone you described.

Any pointers would be appreciated.

I am currently in the midst of e-mailing Sony about this problem. I have VMS 4.0 at work and can see that this plugin is not a demo version in 4.0, so it was definitely changed afterward. It's a useless demo in VMSP 7.0.

Ok........

I'm also standing by to see how this is resolved.

Coming from Screenblast MS 3.0, thru VMS 4.0, and now recently upgraded to Platinum 7.0, this 'downgrading' of a plug-in is indeed very strange.

As has been said, the plug-in is totally useless in its present "demo" form.

I also contacted tech support (via e-mail).

The response was quick, and they appeared helpful.

The last e-mail I got stated:

"I have checked with my superiors who say that this is a bug that has been reported and will be fixed in a future update for the software. Thank you for again bringing it to our attention."

We can only hope that they will release an update soonest!

I received an e-mail today stating the same thing. Again, hopefully it will be fixed soon.

I just upgraded from VMS 6a to Platinum 7, and I get the same beep with the audio restoration plug-in. I installed the 70a update from the Sony website, but I'm still getting the beep, too. Does anyone know where and when the update to fux this beep will be ready?

Maybe if enough of us e-mail tech support, they will fix this bug sooner.

Just a thought!
