Audio scratch added by Vegas

Hi all,
i'm doing my work with vegas 6.0d, on a Opteron based workstation.
Now the trouble:
during the playback and into the render file vegas adds somewhere, sometime audio scratches (buzz of different frequencies) along the movie.
The same project (hosted on a FireWire Disk) viewed on another PC centrino based does not appear to suffer of the problem.
Where i can start to investigate??
Notice that no errors are reported by vegas and the source media is absolutely clean.
I'm using a 48Khz project (DV standard) adding some audio at 44khz (mp3).

Thanks.

Sounds like you're using a demo installation of Vegas on that computer.

No, i've a registered copy of Vegas, not a demo one.

What soundcards are in use on each computer?

I've a SigmaTel Major on the laptop, currently without any trouble, and
a an AMD 8111 / AC97 onto the Dual-Opteron Workstation.

Could be a trouble with the maths executed on an Opteron CPU in the resample routine ???

The scratchs are mostly equals whereas I point my mouse and click play ....

Thks.

No. There are 100s of every processor in existance having no problems.

I suggest your problem is a hardware ( IRQ ?) clash, or some mal-ware sucking too much of your cpu. Or some other intrusive application or service running that periodically sucks too much cpu (AV ?).
