Audio shorter than video

I have a number of DV AVI files, some captured with the Vegas capture application, some captured with SCLive, and some captured with the ATI All-in-Wonder card. I'm finding that often, when I place these files on the Vegas timeline, the audio is shorter by about 2-5 frames than the video. Has anyone else seen this, and is there a solution?

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Yes, I've seen this. This phenomenon is quite common with AVI's of analog video captured using inexpensive capture devices (like the ATI AIW).

The way I fix is by using VirtualDub (http://www.virtualdub.org):
1) Open the video in VirtulDub.
2) Under the video menu, select "Direct Stream Copy".
3) Under Audio do the same. Also, enable "Interleaving." Set the preload to 0 and interleave every frame.
4) Save the video.

This usually works for me. I haven't seen this with MPEG files although I did notice someone posting else saying they had this problem. Unfortunately, I have no fix for MPEG's at this time.

Works like a charm. Thank you!

Now I have to figure out why Vdub Direct Stream Copy is only going at 12 fps. On my old 450 MHz machine, I used to get faster rates. My new 2.8 GHz ought to go faster. I think there is an optimization switch I need to enable.
