Audio Sync from Home made DVDs

May not be the place to ask, but.....

I have made a DVD from these popular DVD recorders that attach to your TV set. When I try to place the VOB file into Vegas 6 timeline I get the audio also (thanks to the fix of installing Movie Studio 6 demo, this now works), but the audio is widely out of sync, by several seconds. I tried rendering to .wav and replacing the audio (this was a suggested fix that worked on commercial DVDs), but this does not help.

Any thoughts?

if (if it's possible) the audio is VBR that could cause it.

does it sounds fine when played back on the DVD player?

no - those have ac3 audio .. VBR is not the issue in this case ..

but what you describe is very common and really the only solution is to slide around the audio till it lines up .. you can find out the audio delay and use that value also (but i find you will still have to tune it ..

in THIS case - you might find it far easier to just capture the output
