Audio sync problems after rendering (edit: solved)

EDIT : Problem solved, see below

Hello,

I am new to Vegas+DVD, having used Premiere in the past.

I am having sync problems during playback of a DVD created with the following steps:

-Capture from DV
-Edit project in Vegas
-Render MPEG 2 video-only stream using the "DVD Architect NTSC" preset, except that bitrate was reduced to 4.6 Mbps
-Render 5.1 AC-3 stream with all default settings (448 kbps)
-Import mpg/ac3 files into DVD Architect as single movie DVD project
-Render the project (no recompression necessary, thus multiplexing only)

During playback with WinDVD and PowerDVD, audio gradually loses sync with video. WinDVD seems to drift less than PowerDVD does. In PowerDVD, there is noticeable lag within 3-4 minutes of playback. However, if I skip to the next chapter, playback becomes in sync again.

Any ideas? Seems like a multiplexing problem to me.

NOTE Video and audio are perfectly aligned in Vegas, and the lengths of each individual stream as reported by DVD Architect in the Optimize DVD window are:

video: 2:01:16.970
audio: 2:01:16.992

Thanks for any help!

And in a set-top DVD player?

Unfortunately I don't have one with me at the moment (this DVD must be playable on a computer anyway).

Howver I've never experienced any sync issues on my system using either of these software players with various DVDs - both commercial and home-made.

Strangely enough, I noticed that this only occurs when I play the DVD using TV-Out on my graphics card (my usual way of previewing DVDs). Furthermore, I discovered that turning off hardware acceleration in the player solves the problem.

Still, I find it strange that I've never experienced loss of sync issues with other DVDs played under identical circumstances.

Maybe this one was okay, but the other discs you've played were out of sync. So the "hardware acceleration" caused the others to play "correctly."

(I'm here all night, folks. Enjoy the rest of the show!)

Actually it turns out it was related to a recent nVidia video driver upgrade.
