Audio sync techniques?

I think I've been using the caveman approach. I have a concert video that I am getting separate audio for. In the past, I've just used the cursor to move the audio until I more or less get it synchronized, but this seems to be a backwards approach. Is there a more scientific approach to syncing? Thanks in advance for any help you can offer.

Without timecode or at least a clap slate you have to "wild sync" it like you are doing. Find a loud spike or downbeat that you can match to the video.
Or if there is audio from the camera mic to line up the remote audio waveform. (taking into account 1 ft = about 1ms delay)

To actually move the audio into sync, once on the tracks, use the numeric keyboard 4 and 6 keys for frame advance and retard while playing... remember to select the track you want to move first.

Best indication that is in Sync, with identical audio from another source such as s second camera, is that it will phase when it is in sync.
Phasing sounds 'hollow' and/or metallic. As it gets close to sync you should start to hear beating which is a good indication you are approaching sync.
