Audio Synch Problem

I'm trying to burn an AVI file that when put onto a 4.7 gig dvdR is a bit too big. So I try to reduce the quality f the picture a bit to fit it all onto the DVD, and when burned the picture looks fantastic, but the Sound is abominable. It doesn't synch up and starts skipping sections. I'm not completely tech savvy on this software, mainly because my parent's got it for me for X-mas, but I keep having this problem. I've burned 2 compltely worthless DVD's so far and I don't want to keep wasting them. If someone could tell me what the issue isit'd be most appreciated. Thanks.

A/V sync problems aren't nearly as common with Vegas/DVDA-3 as they are with some software, but they still happen. WIthout a LOT more information about your system, your source video and your methodology, in general, it's going to be difficult to help you. But we'll try. For one, can you describe the video that you're using, and your method of getting it into your computer? That can be a critical step and may go a long way towards helping us figure out your problem.

One suggestion -- as you feel your way along, it's a good idea to use re-writeable media for your projects. That way, you're not wasting it as you ascend the learning curve.
