audio this, audio that

So i had these audio glitches and posted on the pro forum and one guy said I needed to register.

What advice do you have for editing audio? I tried to use "audio restoration" and don't even know how to use it that well. Used it on the master.

Is there an area or help section that tells you how to use the multiple audio effects? Just cuz you access it doesn't mean you understand it, know what I'm saying? There's all these audio effects and I don't even know what they do, other than guessing at the title.

I have the Sound Forge software and also Cakewalk's Sonar X1 producer.

There's too many clippings/peaks in the audio and I don't like the sound.

Not even sure how to seperate the audio from video clips, other than ungroup and try to copy or paste into music software if need be.

Just don't want it to sound like my cheap-digi-cam mic basically. yeah I know-buy a better camera and better mic...

Trying to smooth it out. Lower the loud sounds and raise the lows.

Those are some pretty general things, byudog. You may need to work through some basic training tutorials to understand the basics.

But if you've got a specific question, we can probably help you. We can't give you complete audio editing training, but we can help you do something specific.

Though, if you're looking for help editing audio, have you considered the audio software forum?

As Steve states that is a broad inquiry.

If I understand you correctly there is little you can do if the 'clipping' or other artifacts are already part of the audio wave file from the original recording.

To smooth the audio out I'd suggest you use 'compression' on the audio file in your X1 program.

If the audio file is really that bad then I'd suggest doing it over and X1 is a great program to start learning and understanding the process.
If you're new to recording/mixing then you have a learning curve.
If you're not new to the process then I just misunderstood you.

Hope that helps a bit....good luck

Well, I officially registered the software and it still makes a clipping/beep-beep-boop noise sometimes.

I noticed it will stop if I click on the effect button in the master area. Maybe it resets it? I don't know... but if it does that in the software and I try to export to make a movie clip-it will also make those noises in the rendered video clip/mp4 file.

Just wondering why it does that. It's not that audio itself I think. It plays just fine-without any effects. I mean it does clip and go into the red/above the red-which is too loud or recorded too loud...

Anway, I may check on the audio forum. I could try out the compression effect. I have a Boost 11 limiter in the Sonar Producer software which I could use also-if I imported all the audio.

Just wish Sony would provide a manual or website area or something that would give you more specifics on the the audio effects. There's nothing in the help area or index as far as I know. It's cool and useful, but it would just be nice to know how to use those effects in a practical manner.

I am fairly new to the video editing process. I already have a decent understand of mixing music generally, but they are not really the same . Not the same software, not the exact same process or tools. There will definitely be a learning curve to getting more adept at using this software. :)

A shot from the hip.....if I'm understanding you correctly...

At this point I'd suggest checking all volume parameters and reduce one of them.
You might be over driving the channel with too much volume on the FX gain or individual channel volume.
Then export again for ANY differences.

Hope that helps.

Carry on....
