audio to track record config

Hello:
I would like to record audio directly to a sound track in Vegas 6 (using the Arm for Record and Record buttons) with sound coming from my 1394 videocamera output, and I can't get it to work...
[The associated Video Capture program works fine and captures video and sound correctly, but does not immediately place the output on a track...]
So what are the settings I need to adjust to Record audio directly to a track ?
Thanks,
Henry

What you need to adjust is to connect the audio (possibly headphones) output of the camcorder to the line inputs of your sound card.

Well, you can connect the analog audio output from your videocamera (if it has that) to you PC's soundcard but transfer via 1394 is going to be better. It's a simple matter to cut out the audio track from the firewire transfer so I see no reason to do otherwise?

In order to do that you have to capture both the audio and video with VidCap (can't do this within Vegas), then put the .avi file on the timeline and render to .wav to get an audio-only version.

Thanks for your input.
I did what you recommended, and got it working !
To get Vegas to hook up with my computer's SigmaTel Audio driver I had however to change in Options/Preferences/Audio Device to Windows Classic Wave Driver instead of the Mapper.
