Audio Track FX Default Settings

Barry W. Hull wrote on 1/20/2012, 10:16 AM
When I add an audio track, there are several settings, Track Noise Gate, Track EQ, and Track Compressor, which are always applied to each new audio track.

I would like to have these settings not be applied automatically when I add a new audio track. It is likely that I somehow turned them on, or made them part of the default FX settings, and I do not know how to turn them off.

For now, when I add an audio track, I manually delete these FX settings each time.

I tried the Vegas help, but that simply crashes Vegas (now I understand the frustration with the bugginess of Vegas. version 11, Build 521).

Anyone know the cure for these automatic audio FXs?

Thanks,

Barry Hull

I never had a problem with Online Help. I could not believe you claiming it crashes Vegas.

I opened help, entered "Audio" then clicked "Effects". It just hanged till I clicked the red X to close. Vegas crashed. I repeated with the exact same result.

Unbelievable.

In any case I can conrfirm it happens to me as well. Please report.

PS. I unfortunately do not have any advice on the auto added effects. They have been there for as long as I remember.

Help works okay for me.

As for audio track settings, highlight an audio track that is the way you like it (in your case, you'd probably delete all effects first). Then right-click on its track header and select "Set Default Track Properties". In the future, all new audio tracks will have the same properties as this one.

Those FX are the standard 'default'.

To set your own default, make a blank track with whatever FX you want, then r-click the header and choose 'Set Default Track Properties'.

Thanks,

It worked, saves me a few clicks. Sometimes the answer is staring you in the face, and yet hidden.

As far as the Help Section goes, it has caused Vegas to crash since I first purchased Vegas, several versions ago.

The program itself has been stable, only an occasional crash or two, but the Help Section, that is another story. It has NEVER worked for me, VERY annoying, almost always crashes the program.

In fact, that is what lead me to this forum, needing help, and never being able to get it straight from the program. Always a silver lining.

I have seen those default track options. However you sometimes just need a reminder and I will now probably remember them (maybe not). Thanks for the help.

After looking elsewhere in online help first, it all suddenly started working again - just thought I need to put that straight. I do not know what the problem was, I did not even restart Vegas. As I said initially, I never had a problem with it before.
