Audio tracks & FXs Greyed out

Trying to edit an old project and I find the audio tracks and the track audio FXs greyed out. Nothing soloed or muted. The track audio FXs are the bog standard ones, none are even active!
Vision is fine. I can open the same clips in a new project no problem. This project started life on a different system. No complaints from Vegas opening it
Go to the previous version of the project and all is well.

Try "Save As" with new name and try opening that?

didn't even need to do that. Closed it, posted here, rendered another project and opened it again. This time Vegas complained about a missing Master Limiter plug and now all is well. Wierd but problem has gone away.

Now I've just got to find all the darn media I used.
