That's expected when working with mpeg to avi files, particularly if the audio files are .mpeg 2 and not PCM, or if they were AC3 and then converted to pcm.

they are not mpeg, they are vob, and they play fine outside of vegas 5.

What do you think is used to create a vob?

I'm having a similar problem! I burned a DVD from Final Cut Pro on a Mac, then converted the VOB file to an AVI on my PC and imported it into Vegas 5.0. Unfortunately, the sound slowly starts to lag behind the video until it's about a second and a half off five minutes in.

The odd thing is, the .AVI file plays synchronized fine in Windows Media Player and is synchronized fine in Windows Movie Maker (which needless to say, I would prefer to avoid using if possible). I don't think it's the AVI file that's the problem, I think it's Vegas.

I am at a loss to explain this. I can't import the VOB file directly because I'm only using the demo version which doesn't support MPEG2 imports. Any thoughts, anyone?

yea when you convert the vob to avi make sure the audio is PCM and not mp3 then when you import it to vegas 5, it should be fine.
