Audio/video sync

I have a video clip where the audio is out of sync with the video by a few frames. This is due to some glitches in the recording path. I want to adjust the audio start time via a script but I don't want the event show up as pink. In other words I want to indicate to Vegas that the audio and video are in sync now even though they apparently aren't according to their locations in the source media file.

Actually I'm not sure how to do this in the UI either, but it's really a script solution I'm looking for. Any suggestions?

You're going to get pink clips.

Wow, even if you add the audio and video separately as different events, Vegas still shows them pink of you slip them.

Oh well, the pink doesn't really matter. Just ignore it.

I agree that the bogus pink is not *too* harmful, but just living with it means the pink is useless in the case where I accidentally really do get my events out of sync.

I don't know how to do this in the way you are asking, but if I had this problem I would solve it in a different way.

I would just re-sync the audio and video by adjusting the delay between the audio and video streams. You don't say what kind of video file this is, but if it is one that can be handled by Vegas then it is likely that VirtualDub can cope with it too, in which case the quickest and easiest way is simply to do a direct stream process pass on both the audio and video streams, merely adjusting the "audio skew correction" under audio|interleaving. This will write out a new file with the audio and video streams unchanged but resynced (you'll need to know by how many msec you need to adjust, forward or back, of course).

Or if you fnd it easier you could just re-sync the fole in Vegas and then render out a re-synced copy and use that instead of the original. But this might (depending on what kind of file it is) involve you in an extra render pass of course - not all kinds of video can be smart rendered.

You can create a new group with the audio and video tracks and I believe the pink will go away.

According to the release notes for 8.0b, this has been addressed. jfyi
