Audio/Video Synch Problems with TY and converted files

I occassionaly capture files from my Directv Tivo recorder. Works well and creates an *.avi file which I subsequently edit with Vegas, no problem. I recently installed an ftp server on my Tivo and now download the files to my PC disk that way; much faster than having to actually play the program all the way through to capture it. When I ftp the file it comes as a *.TY that I can convert into any number of alternatives, avi, mpg, vob, etc. Unfortunately, no matter which alternative I use the video and audio are always out of synch when I try to edit in Vegas. But, almost every one of them will play well in Nero and I can create a DVD from there as well, no problems. Have tried DVD2AVI, TYTools, and VirturalDub with no joy. Looking for a tool/solution so that I can use these files in Vegas, problem is the same with v4 or v5.

Thanks for your suggestions.

Check the file's audio properties, set Vegas's project properties accordingly.

Most video audio's sample rate is 48 kHz, Vegas's default is 44,100 Hz.

Thanks for the suggestion. I have changed the project properties as you suggested, no luck. I next changed the parameters to convert the file to 44,100 and used the like setting in Vegas, again no luck - still have the problem.

Thanks again for the idea.
