Audio Volume Level

I am trying to alter the audio volume of various songs throughout my project. Some of the audio tracks I want a full volume and some I want as low background music. However, when I adjust the audio volume using the decibal slide bar on the left hand side while a sinlge track is highlight wihin the project, the audio volume is set as a global setting as now all other audio tracks are set to the same level. This is not the global slide that is on the bottom of the timeline which I believe is intended for this purpose. My audio tracks are not grouped together. Any help?

You should try a volume envelope - select the audio track you want to adjust and type "v" (without the ""). You'll see blue line, representing the volume. Clicking on the line adds anchor points and you can drag the volume up and down between them.

Thank you. I was able to select v and see the blue volume line. However, like using the slide bar on the left, this sets the volume level for all tracks within the project. I have tried using the edit tool to select a range but this again does not appear to change the volume for the desired section but rather the entre project. Is there something else I am missing?

You need to add the anchor points and then adjust the level in between them.

Ecellent. I was not familiar with anchor points and could not find them in the manual, but guessing by double-clicking did the trick.

Thanks Greatly,

You can also have fun using the "pan" envelope. Mechanics of adjusting are the same, but this controls the volume of sound from the left and right speakers.
