Audio Volume Reduction - Update

Hi All,

Update: The AC3Filter audio decoder (downloadable from sourceforge.net) has a configuration panel that allows you to select a Loud preset. Once this was installed and the gains adjusted the downmixed and output audio levels for the AC3 audio tracks were right on.

When I bring an NTSC SD MPEG-2 file recorded on my new HDR-SR7 HandyCam into Vegas 7 I can play back the stereo downmixed audio with correct volume from with the timeline. When the project is rendered into another MPEG-2 file for DVD burn the audio level drops by about half when the rendered file is played back on the PC or recorded to a DVD.

The same source file, when imported into any other commercial DVD burning program (I've tried Nero 7 Ultra and VideoStudio 9) can be trimed and burned to a DVD with the exact same audio volume as the original. I've used the time-consuming technique of rendering a seperate MPG video-only file and accompanying AC3 audio file: this has created a DVD with correct audio volume, but I cannot render to another MPG file for viewing on the PC later on.

Is there a fix for this or a hidden setting somewhere to make Vegas 7 faithfully re-produce the audio volume when rendering?

Thanks in advance, Kevin
