Audio waveform too small to see accurately

GMP wrote on 12/30/2018, 2:49 PM

I have Movie Studio Platinum and I need to sync up a video. I did the final mix on the song and the singer is listening to that while lip syncing. So his video camera picked up my intro to the song, which I want to use to sync up the final mix audio.

The camera audio is very low when playing my intro so the waveform is really small and hard to see where my intro begins. Can I enlarge the waveform of the audio so I can see it better?

Rightclick the audio event and choose Switches/Normalize

To zoom the waveform display only, hold shift while pressing +.

Switches/Normalize worked great. I wasn't able to get shift while pressing +.to work.

Normalize actually affects the level of the audio, not just the size of the waveform. Do not use Normalize if you don't want your audio to be affected.

Thanks for the tip. I was already aware of that and figured the next time, I'll make a copy of the audio and normalize that. just in case the normalize causes an audio problem - thanks to all

When you are aware of that (possible) effect, you don't need to use a copy but for changing the difference it's possible to use the volume slider or the volume envelope or both.

Also it is possible to normalize such an audiofile by rightclicking and sending it to your preferred audio editor, where you can normalize it also with more settings and also that the volume stays at the same as it was before
