Audio Wrapping

Vegas Pro - version 18

Windows 10 64 bit - 8 MG ram - 1 terabyte disk

At the end of the video clip, if there is no audio, the empty space is filled from the front of the clip. The audio wraps to fill the empty audio space under the video. I must select and cut the wrapped audio? Is there a setting to stop this wrap of audio?

What kind of clip only has audio for a portion of the file length?

I think the correct term is looping rather than wrapping. To prevent looping or wrapping, select the audio event, right-click and select switches. Then untick "Loop". The event will still be extended, but it will remain silent. You can do the same thing to the video track, in which case, the last frame will be repeated similar to a freeze frame.

Here's a screen grab of an audio event where Loop is unticked, but still extended. Note the silence where looping starts.

Or to generally prevent this, turn it off in Options/Preferences/Editing. This (having it turned off) is my personal default.
