"authentication code" needed

I got a new computer, downloaded and installed Vegas 9.0c on it, and now I'm being prompted for an authentication code. I tried the whole thing on the support site entering my machine ID, but it's not accepting it.

I emailed support a few minutes ago, does anyone know if they are 24x7 or how long they'll typically take to respond to something like this?

Or anyone have any suggestions?

You've tried registering online or from another computer?

Yes, tried registering online.

Make sure your firewall is not blocking Sony software during registration.

Good call, disabled the firewall, still no love.

I tried it again this morning and it worked fine, then I checked my email and Sony had sent me an activation code, but turns out I didn't need it.

This must have happened because it's been on a few different computers and they wanted to make sure it wasn't being pirated I guess. Understandable.

Interesting. I just went through a similar thing this morning. Installed Win7 on a system last week, and then upgraded the hardware and did a clean install. Since I'm using Magic Bullet Looks for some finishing touches on a few projecs I install Vegas 32-bit and 64-bit since MBL only works in 32-bit VP9. I have three systems (two for network rendering, one laptop for working on the road). I "ran out of authentication codes" - but just contacted support and they fixed it.

I've always found the SONY support excellent (even when they can't solve every problem). You have to have the patience of Job to KNOW that when you pick up the phone, the person on the other end is going to have a problem.
