auto-create markers at start of each event?

I know I have used the "Excalibur" script tools in the past to automatically insert markers at the start of each event on a timeline. Now with Vegas 9, I had to download a new version of Excalibur, and I can't find that functionality (and even if it did work, I'd have to pay for the new upgraded version apparently).

Is there any easy way for me to insert a marker at the start of each event on a track? And, having done so, then split events on another track at every marker?

Actually, if you download and install and newer version, you'd get another 15 day free trial. Also, if you just e-mail me telling me what you need, it's not impossible for me to generate a new "demo" key to extend a trial by another 15 days. Can't say I will always do so but it is possible.

But to answer the original question: It's on the "Timeline" tab - you want the "Create Markers" tool

Thank you for your reply. I did download the new version as a trial and I did try Timeline/Create Markers. It created markers, yes- many hundreds of them. There was one marker every five seconds. The timeline was solid orange. What I wanted was just one marker at the start of each event.

I would understand it if there was a radio toggle that said, for example "one marker every five seconds" or "one marker per event" but I did not see any such control, is there one? I seem to recall that there was one such in a previous version.

Both working here:

A] "one marker every five seconds"

B] "one marker per event"

PLUS adding makers every 5 secs and then I can split on these NEW Markers too!

What a Tool!

Grazie

Click the little circle selection control (radio button) beside the "Create Markers" button. This will display the settings for the Create Markers tool. Once those are displayed, you can select the option to only do it for every event just like you did in the older version.

Because it now runs docked and screen real-estate is at a premium, I added the radio buttons and only display the controls for one specific tool at a time. Previously, the controls for all tools were displayed at once.

Aha, yes, it works now. Thank you. I did not understand the changes with the new interface, so I had not clicked the button to show the separate controls.

Glad to hear you got it working the way you wanted.
