Auto label titles?

I'm doing a project with a ton of titles. Each title is automatically named Sonic Foundry 001, etc. I am then renaming the titles by hand (in Properties), so that they appear in the timeline properly identified for easy reference. Is there a way to do this automatically?

What kind of titles? Where are you renaming the titles, the active take, tape name, etc?

Just basic lower third and bullet point titles.
Totally run of the mill.

The VV title tool is doing everything I want, but it doesn't automatically identify the title in the time line. It calls every title "Sonic Foundry Text" with a new number. I'd like it to automatically call the "timeline" title by the actual title's name, ie, "John Jones, Video Editor".

Is this clear?

I can't find an elegant way to automate this. I think it's a great idea to add to the wishlist...
