Auto-levels plugin?

Hi guys,

I was wondering, is there actually a Vegas Auto-levels plugin? I have seen on the VASST site (http://www.vasst.com/training/vegasplugs.htm) a dead link to a plugin which is supposedly based on the virtual dub filter. A lot of sites which describe Vegas's feature list include "Auto Levels" but I can not find a built in plugin.

Can anybody point me in the right direction?

Cheers,

Rob,

Not a plugin, but running audio through the free standalone levelator would do this. Podcasters swear by it, no idea how it is for general audio use.

Search for Mike Crash Filters.

Opps, sorry, I should have specified, I meant a video auto levels plugin. But thanks for the pointer.

I found the virtualdub based one at http://www.mikecrash.com/modules.php?name=Downloads&d_op=viewdownload&cid=13

The only problem with this is that although it does a good job of correction sometimes, it has a habit of going a bit crazy. I am going to give his Level Corrector 1.0 plugin a try.

Well it seems that there must be some kind of incompatibility between Vegas 8 and Level Corrector 1.0, and possibly Auto Level as well. Auto level mode in both plug ins does a very good correction for a few frames and then goes crazy and green for a few more. It would be handy if there was an option to base the correction for a whole event on analysis of the first frame (or even better a specified frame) for consistency on problem shots. Maybe I shall write to Mr Crash?

EDIT:

Ok, I think I have discovered what the green issue was. Both plugins expect to see Computer RGB levels, otherwise it sends them bonkers. There is still an issue in Level Corrector 1.0 when auto leveling is switched off. It does not seem to be able to recognize alterations in colour warmth bias.
