Auto Mute ? Data on one channel controls volume of another channel

I have 2 audio channels, one with background sounds (music, environmental noise, etc.) and another channel with an audio comment. I want to lower the volume of the background channel shortly before a new comment starts on the comment channel. Later i want to level up the background channel when the comment finishes.

Right now i do this by adding a volume envelope for the background channel, then manually set the volume changes as needed. But it should be not a big deal to automate this such that whenever an audio comment appears in the comment channel, the volume on the background channel is automatically lowered, and leveled up again shortly after the audio comment ended. But i can not find such an "auto mute" feature in Sony Vegas.

Before i write a script for this i ask here if i might have overlooked this feature in Vegas, or if such a script already exists.

Thanks for any hint.

Vegasaur's tool "Voice Over" does this.

It would be easy ..if.. VP supported side chaining.. (I've requested this feature many times since Vegas 1.0) There is, or used to be one or two VST compressors where an arbitrary bus/side channel could be inserted, but I don't recall the names. That said, I prefer manually adding an envelope anyway. Copy/Pasting the envelopes makes it relatively easier as well.
