Auto Stop

Hi All

We are starting to use Vegas 9 and 10 for live shows. The question we have is is it possible to do the following.

When the play head reaches a marker to automate a auto stop and jump to next marker. So Vegas is ready to play the next cue. If this is possible to do how do I set this up?

This maybe a question for Scripting so I will post this question there too.

Regards

Gary

I wouldn't use Vegas as a cue cart for live shows, simply because its preview wasn't designed with that kind of use in mind. Even racking your songs in a Winamp or iTunes playlist would seem more reliable.

I'm sure there are DJ / VJ tools that will do what you want, and there is also the older free broadcast tool from NCH Audio. http://www.nch.com.au/action/misc.html

Hi

Thanks for the reply.

I appreciate what you said but all we want to use it purely as a multi track playback unit. We have already used it for a kids show in the UK, In The Night Garden, we 5 shows a day, 6 days a week for about 3 months. I think we had 2 minor glitches throughout the whole of the run. All we want is a liner playback system. Just sometimes we just need to stop and start the playback. At the moment this is difficult to achieve by using external software like, SFX or QLab.

I hope someone who reads this can point me in the right direction. All I want to do is to stop and standby next marker or stop and jump to next marker and start playing again.

Thanks again for your input.

I don't think Vegas does that; the only other software I know for sure does that is SSL/Soundscape "Editor" which has a setting "Play till next Marker" whereupon it stops; thus, if markers are sensibly placed close to beginning of each Cue, that is just what you need.

Additionally, user can instantly jump to and play a specific Cue just by entering Marker Number followed by UpArrow.

However that software will only work with specific SSL Hardware (MX4 MADI PCIe Card, or legacy SS32/REd32 systems)

see

and

BTW, the SSL MX4 also functions as a splendid soundcard for Vegas or just about any other Windows application...... with 128 inputs and 128 outputs!
