Auto Volume levels

I have compiled a video presentation from old VHS tapes and the sound levels vary greatly from clip to clip . i am struggling to get a consistent volume level throughout the project. My question is , does pro 22 have an FX effect that will auto level all the clips into one level ?

In the audio track header, try Track FX 'Track Compressor' or 'Wave Hammer'. You'll need to experiment with the settings to find the best result that you are aiming for based on the differing audio levels of each audio event. On the other hand, if each audio event is okay in themselves but don't align in audio level with the other audio events, you could manually use the volume control on each audio event to establish audio levels based on listening to the mix through studio speakers.

See this recent topic

As was stated, Track Compressor, Wave Hammer and the Graphic Compressor have an auto level tool, which is dependent on the threshold and ratio settings, so properly set, it is not sound annoying as most auto gain (AGC) tools.

That said,,adjusting the level of each segment maybe best, either by ear, or with an LU (Integrated) loudness meter or tool. I use the 'Statistics' tool in Sound Forge a lot for mastering,(see screen shot below), which can create a (typical 3 minute song) report in a few seconds..
