Auto White Balance Plugin for Vegas?

Yes, yes, I know that I can edit my photos and do auto-white balance (to get me in the ballpark of balance) in other software, but I was also thinking how I'd like to have an auto-white balance plugin for Vegas so that I could try to do much more photo tweaking under Vegas alone. Has anyone ever created a plugin like this for Vegas?

There's no auto white balance plug-in for Vegas that I'm aware of but the built-in color corrector makes this process very easy.
Try the Using Scopes and Color Corrector Wheels tutorial and see for yourself.

Yes, there is an aute white balance plugin available. It's called "Auto Levels" and it's done by Mike Crash. Works well with any Vegas versions I have installed. Don't have his homepage url at hand right now.

Thanks Marco. I forgot all about Mike Crash and his filters.
This filter and several more can be found on the Vegas Filters section of his site.

Hey guys, thanks for the links, much appreciated. On an interesting note, last night I discovered that I can open my photo editing program alongside Vegas and open the individual photos that are on a Vegas track. Once I had made my photo adjustments in the photo editor and clicked saved and navigated back to Vegas, the video track pic would update accordingly...now that's really cool.

But I definitely need to learn to use the Color Scopes and CC Wheels much better than I currently know how to do. Since most everything I had previously done was for the internet, it was a different ballgame then wanting to do things for HDTV and DVD's.

Glad to have been of some help Nathan.

What would be really cool is if Vegas hooked into an external photo editor so that you could see the results on an external monitor as you were doing corrections. I had that feature in dpsVelocity and it was a huge timesaver .

There are more color correction & scope tutorials on Billyboy's main page.
Another highly recommended teaching tool is the Color Correction in Sony Vegas DVD from VASST.
Best $59 I ever spent to learn a lot more on this subject :-)

Photoshop CS2 can send a picture out to a monitor via firewire. Just an fyi.

Ha! I just printed out all of Billyboy's tutorials and put them in a folder. Some good stuff written there and that DVD looks worth having also. Since Vegas allows you to externally preview on a second video monitor (if you have two video cards), I'm hoping to soon get a 32" HDTV to start previewing on to give me a better real-world idea of how things may look for others at home with their HDTV's.

You don not need a second video card to externally monitor on a video monitor. You can use your firewire port out to a pass through camcorder connected to a video monitor.
I use 2 computer monitors (utilizing a video card with two (VGA and SDI outputs) and a studio video monitor connected in the above manner.

Fixing Incorrect White Balance using Sony Vegas by Jeffrey P. Fisher.
Once you're shown how, it's actually quite easy to do.
