Automate auto-crossfade?

I want all of the still images in my Vegas 4 project to crossfade from one to another with a uniform fade time. I could drag each of the images so that it overlaps the previous image but, with a few hundred images, this is tedious. I could use a transition and apply it to multiple selected events but I have not found a transition that matches the one that Vegas auto-crossfade uses. I like the look of the auto-crossfade and want to use it.

Is there a way to set up Vegas so that all event cuts will automatically do an auto-crossfade for a specified number of frames or seconds?

Help file is not helpful.

Thanks.

Options / Preferences / Editing. Set New Still Image length to the length you want for each image, including the crossfade time. Check Automatically overal multiple selected media when added. Set Cut-to-overlap conversion Amount to the length of the crossfade.

Now, when you select multiple images in explorer or media pool and drop them on the timeline, they'll all be overlapped by the specified amount.
