I am searching far and wide for a video capture tool that will simply start capturing video if it receives a RS-422 'Record' command, and then stop capturing video when it receives a RS-422 'Stop' command.

Every capture tool I have seen has the NLE control an external deck (instead of the other way around). In my application, I will have live video coming down a 1394 pipe. An external device will then send an RS-422 Record command, and I need to be able to start the capture (and stop it).

Anyone have any thoughts or suggestions? and thanks.
