Automatic crossfades

Does anyone know how to automatically add crossfades between events? I can add transitions but the transition list doesn't include the normal crossfade that you get by overlapping events. VF looks promising for generating slide shows but when you have 100-200-500 pictures, adding a crossfade between each one could be a real pain.

And while we're at it, can I lengthen a set of selected events by a set amount in one or two or even three steps? By default, when adding jpg images to the timeline, VF makes them 5 seconds long. I can lengthen each one independently, but again, I don't have any desire to do that for 500 images.

First go to "Options" and switch automatic crossfades on. If you overlap two clips you'll then get a crossfade - the length is determined by how much you overlap them. If you enable snaps (another option) it's easy to get the crossfades to be a consistent length.

To alter the default still duration have a look at this and to change the duration of a group of stills have a look at Chienworks' advice.

Thanks IanG! One down, one to go. Now if I could just get VF to insert crossfades automatically by selecting an entire group of stills and clicking on a "insert crossfades between selected events" menu pick, I'd be set.

Seems like it should be obvious functionality, especially when working with large numbers of stills. But, working for a S/W company, I know that sometimes the most obvious things are overlooked.
