Turn on Ripple Edit. Then, as you delete a clip, the following clips will close the gap and fill in where the old one was.

ripple edit is enabled. should it do it automatically or do i have to press a key. could it be that my takes are not grouped?

forget it i figured it out thanks in avance. you need to select it by time. i was trining to split it and then just delete the event now I know better.

to build on your knowledge, is there a way that i can delete events like before and have the other events snap to the remainding events with a fade so that i don't have to manually go in and put a fade in. So, not only do i want to close the gaps, i would like to be able to get automatic fades at a predefine frame or 3 seconds into each cut.

To put a dissolve between the clips, just click on one of the clips, use CTRL-ALT-Right or Left arrow to get to the cut and press "/" on the numpad.
