i have vegas 7.0e. all my videos are in cineform 24p (i shoot my videos in 24p using the HV20). whenever i try to render my video to avc/aac 1080p vegas would work fine until my CPU gets to 100% for a few seconds (about 5-10 seconds), then suddenly it either closes itself or gives a error message that says "error could not be determined" or something like that. in either case the unfinished rendered video becomes garbage and is unreadable. this is especially painful when you spend 1 hour rendering and it crashes at the last minute (it could be anytime not just the last minute).
what's weird though is that if I render it in 720p instead of 1080p then the CPU never gets to 100% and the whole video renders to the end just fine.
i've got the QX6700 CPU, so I thought maybe the temperature got hot...well, with the stock CPU cooler that may be the case, but I've the Scythe Zipang, which keeps my CPU at around 60 degC max (individual cores are around 80degC max (by max I mean when the CPU gets 100%)), so apparently temperature is not the problem. As a matter of fact, using Everest Ultimate Edition, the temperature shown for 50% CPU usage VS 100% CPU usage isn't that much different at all...only around a 10deg difference.
I thought the RAM might be an issue, but I've got at least 2.75GB available in RAM, and virtual memory is set at 4GB. By watching task manager there's no indication at all the RAM or virtual memory is the culprit. There were plenty of RAM and virtual memory left when Vegas crashed.
Like i said, this only happens when I render in 1080p using mainconcept AVC/AAC.
My question is, what gives? Is this a bug in vegas 7.0? I've also tried rendering with a trial version of vegas 8.0b and the same problem occurs.
Another weird thing is that this is the only time when I see the CPU getting to 100% and stay there for 5 to 10 seconds straight. normally it would fluctuates. I can't duplicate this with anything else...not even with After Effects (full of trapcode effects and stuffs).
Thanks,
