AVCHD Playback Not Working

Hello

My computer setup is as follows: CPU 3.00 GHz; RAM 3.00 GB; GeForce 7600 GS - significantly above the suggested min requirements.

The mts video file I shot (w/ a canon video camera) does not playback correctly when imported into a project file. The audio is fine but the video plays like a series of still frames w/ pauses inbetween - jerky and halting. When I watch the video in the Corel windvd 2010 player, both audio and video playback are normal which also suggests to me that the problem is not a result of my computers processing power. I looked at articles in the knowledge base, in particular "Match Project Properties to your source media" and followed directions in that article with no improvement. There are no effects or masking in the project at this point ... Sony states specifically that my software (Vegas Movie Studio Platinum V.9) supports 1920x1080 AVCHD formats for the Canon camera - exactly my setup.

I wonder if anyone has had a similar experience and can pass along some advice...

This is quite normal.
The best way is to transcode your files to a format that Vegas can run more easily, without loss of quality.
Follow this tutorial. It may scare you at first, but once you get used to it, it will be easy.

(hint: (1) to find the avid codec, you must scroll up in dropdown box; (2) the avid options dialog has a layout bug. you must click to 2mm white line that will open the dropbox with all the resolutions.)

Thank Eugenia for it!
