OK - Given my current Status
- Canon HF10 as primary Camcorder
- Current Fastest Machine is DualCore 2 Duo 2.3
-I skipped Vegas 8 (so no AVCHD support in Vegas 7)
- I do NOT have a Blu-Ray Burner
- I do not have a Blu-Ray player or PS3
- Because of where I am (overseas) no real need even for customers for HD output
I, of course want to be able to use my HF10 media and edit it easily in Vegas
(which I can't do today)
I want the editing to be a simple process (in terms of conversion of formats)
In the future (I would say prob at least 3 years out) I would want to have whatever I create now - in an HD format - but may not need it for next 3 years.
Now - I see, that if I want to do real HD editing and be able to watch at home using my Native AVCHD I should get
- Vegas 9
-64 bit OS
- New PC
-Blu-ray burner
-blue ray player
- (ok lets skip the cost of the 1080i 50" plasma)
Sounds to be getting a bit high.
I think I will go for Vegas 9 anyway ....
so the question is ..............
If I don't want to pay all the HW upgrade money -
How can I keep my current HW and SW (Ok fine add in Vegas 9)
and edit videos today and make DVDs etc
BUT ALSO be in position to generate it as HD/Blu-Ray in the future
(so taking my AVCHD and converting it before editing would be bad - since I would need to redo the whole process)
Sorry to sound insane - but not sure I can rationalize all this new HW just to enable me to use a new camera - and for today the results I can get from DVD would be fine given my "output options"
Would AVCHD Upshift be a good idea to use? (Ironic - that I held off buying it since I thought the next version of Vegas would help me avoid it.)
Does Vegas 9 have a good solution without me needing to buy additional tools.
