I have some avi files which vegas recognises as audio only. these files are seen as video files w/ windows media player. i tried the workaround frrom the knowledge base of using windows movie maker to save in AVI-DV format but WMMaker just thinks they are audio only too! any other workarounds?
ffdshow makes a lot of unwanted changes that aren't fully undone when uninstalled. I had to do a system restore to get my registry back to it's original state.
Suggest you find out what video codec was used for your avi files (with MediaInfo or Gspot), then we can assist you with finding the specific codec you need. For instance, if what you really need is a working MJPEG VFW decoder, ffdshow isn't going to do the trick.
In this case, the rifle approach beats the shotgun approach, by a mile. Don't know why anyone would want a dozen codecs to solve one problem.
Dear Musicvid, I have to confess, i went for the blunderbus approach and installed ffdshow....and have never looked back! All problems (so far) solved.
