AVI file not recognized

Hi,

I have an AVI file. I tried to open the file in Vegas 5.0, I get the following message :
Audio Stream atributes could not be determined.
Video Stream attributes could not be determined.

When I checked the file using other softwares like AVIcodec and G-Spot... It is is able to recognize the Audio and Video files.

I also have the same file converted to MPEG-2 format using TMPGEnc.
I tried to open the MPEG-2 file in Vegas 5.0, it recognized it.

The AVI file has AC3 Audio.
Should there be any plugin to open the AVI file in Vegas5.0.

Please help.

Vegas does not decode AC-3, it only encodes it. AC-3 is a compressed delivery format, it's not meant for editing. The same can be said for Mpeg even though Vegas will open it.
