Where did the avi originate? DivX 5 by chance? What is the codec used to compress the media in the avi file? You likely need a decoder, depending on where it originated.

It was actually a bunch of video clips from a friends digital camera...

Maybe an MJPEG AVI. YOu need an MJPEG codec if that is the case. YOu can do a search on the web for one.

Yeah, they're MJPEG codecs, so you'll need to find one.
