AVI file rendered but no audio in Pro 11

vkrhodes wrote on 11/17/2011, 11:56 AM
I have been using Vegas since version 3.0 and have always chosen to render as AVI and never had an issue with not getting the audio with the video portion. What has changed in this version that is making it so difficult to always get my audio with the AVI file. I have tried multiple choices in the render menu, but have the hardest time getting the audio to render with the video.
This is really frustrating and time consuming. It should be just choose render as AVI and that be it, but that's not the case anymore.

Post your complete source file information using MediaInfo (free download from Sourceforge) and upload a sample of your original source somewhere so others can look at it and try on their own systems.

it's not an avi file issue. It will render in Pro 9 with the audio. But in Pro 10 all I get is a rumbling sound and/or crossed audio. In past versions all I had to do was to tell it to render to AVI and that was it.

Mine does that too, actually it's done it in Vs. 10 as well, when I'm rendering either .mp4 or separate MPEG-2 audio steam sometimes it just won't play. Weird because the files size is the same as when it renders to a playable file.

What I have had to do (which drives me nuts) is to render the audio first and then check it. If it doesent play then I close Vegas & reopen the project and it will render ok then. Wonder what gives???

You see, I was thinking that maybe if others could see a little of your source, and try it on their own systems and configurations, someone might just be able to reproduce your problem, offer some advice, maybe even suggest a workaround or provide a bit of confirmation in case you decided to file a support ticket.

Just plain silly of me, I guess . . .

The next time I get a "No Sound" render, I'll post the file so you can see/play with it. I am hoping that the new Nvidia Beta driver will solve this issue like it has some others I am having.

BTW I have opened a ticket with SCS. I just haven't waited the prerequisite 3-4 weeks to hear back from them.

New Nvidia Beta driver did not help this issue, might have aggravated it some too.

Here are the results of a failing .ac3 file using MediaInfo:

General
CompleteName : G:\6X47X11.ac3
Format : AC-3
Format/Info : Audio Coding 3
FileSize/String : 39.1 MiB
Duration/String : 28mn 30s
OverallBitRate_Mode/String : Constant
OverallBitRate/String : 192 Kbps

Audio
Format : AC-3
Format/Info : Audio Coding 3
Format_Settings_ModeExtension : CM (complete main)
Duration/String : 28mn 30s
BitRate_Mode/String : Constant
BitRate/String : 192 Kbps
Channel(s)/String : 2 channels
ChannelPositions : Front: L R
SamplingRate/String : 48.0 KHz
BitDepth/String : 16 bits
Compression_Mode/String : Lossy
StreamSize/String : 39.1 MiB (100%)

Anyone have any ideas to resolve this?

@drrohle,
Perhaps you would like to start your own thread, since your question has no bearing on the original topic, that being audio in an AVI render.
Sorry if you thought my previous reply was made for you.

Will do...

OK so I started my own thread for this (as well as 3 others) for various problems but no response on any of them. Even on JetDV. What gives???
