AVI Files from a Toshiba Camileo S20 won't import.

When I choose to play or import in Vegas HD 11.0 build 256, an AVI file that was created with a Toshiba Camileo S20 I get the error: "An error occurred while opening one or more files. An error occurred while opening a codec." Then shows the file path and "file could not be opened"

AVI files from my other cameras work fine. I also get this same error on an XP machine that I installed Vegas same version on.

Is it some different type of AVI the Toshiba Camileo is using to make the videos? They play fine in windows media player.

You would have to tell us that.
Use MediaInfo to report what kind of CODECS are in your AVI files.
There are literally thousands of possible combinations. You probably just need a single VFW codec.

Giving this a try:

--AVI files with AVC/h.264 video may open just the audio in Vegas. Downloading and installing the x264vfw codec from sourceforge.net/projects/x264vfw/ will usually open the video with audio in Vegas. This is the solution for Vado HD and AVI/H264 video files from some other pocket HD cameras.

Yes! This was my fix!

For the audio, demux in AviDemux and save as PCM. Add as a separate track to the timeline. You may have to experiment.
Gotta say, AVC/AAC in an AVI wrapper is a bit of a stretch.
AVI doesn't support either video B-frames or VBR audio natively, so it seems odd that a camera manufacturer would do that?

Well I can open the AVI video in Nero 8 and Nero video 11, and it has audio. So then I can recode and then it'll import into Vegas. Would be nice not to have the extra steps. Thanks again!

Had the same issue with my Toshiba Camileo. Files played and opened everywhere but Sony Movie Studio. Once I installed the program that came with the Toshiba Camileo, which has a driver that is needed...AVI's imported without issue. Still seems odd as I could play them fine in any other venue on my PC. However the software install form the Camileo camera did the trick.

I installed the ArcSoft software from the DVD but that didn't do anything. I got to looking at the disc and noticed it had ffdshow on there. So I ran that setup and the video imports and plays perfectly now in Vegas. But with no sound.

When I have the video highlighed in Vegas it says "Stream attributes could not be determined." under Audio.

When I open ffdshow audio decoder config it shows the audio codec of my video file "AAC, decoder libfaad2" in there. So why is vegas not picking the audio codec up too?

Did anyone find a solution to this without having to go through separate steps to fix the audio in another app and re-save the file? I am also trying to import the AVI files from Toshiba Camileo S20. I have the latest K-Lite Codecs Mega installed and also tried installing the latest FFDSHOW release over that. Video plays fine in Sony Vega but no audio.

The video plays fine in Windows Live Movie Maker but not in Sony software.
I haven't tried installing the ArcSoft software but doesn't seem like that would help. I think all it does is install FFDSHOW which I already have.
