avi issues

Cannot import avi file into Vegas 4.0 (Build 115). Only the audio portion can be imported.

I don't know what kind of avi file it is. It was taken from my digital camera (Casio Exilim).

How do I get the video to play? Do I need a codec or something?

I've searched the forum with no luck.

It's quite likely an mpeg-4 avi, they probably tell you what it is somewhere in the documentation and you'll need the codec to get Vegas to be able to handle it. With a bit of luck the codec maybe on a CD that came with the camera although perhaps not that obviously labelled as such.

If it's a z4u, you'll need to locate an MJPEG codec for it. there are some links to various MJPEG codecs here in the forum. I'm on dialup or I'd look for you.
