AVI,M2t, Mpeg file

When I captured all my HD Video files from my CanonHV20 the files were saved as M2t (mpeg). I'm using VMS Platinum 8.0b
I read that its better to edit the files on the timeline as .AVI instead.

I have a 320gB Sata HD to store to so im not overly concerned about storage.
Could I get a simple explanation from someone? Thanks So Much.

This is NOT true. You can use the .m2t files as is, no problem at all on version 8.0b.
