avi or MPG if it is going to DVD?

man, this has always confused me to death...
i have some shots from my xh-a1 (HDV) canon...
and i just wanted to burn some test clips out to DVD via DVD arch....
what is the best (quailty) way to render out?
should i do ntsc AVI, HDV, or DVD profile, should i render out to MPG2, and chose dvd arch wide? too many settings, and i dont know what the devil they do!

my camera shoots in 24P, shoujld i just 24 as the frame rate... what if i had it set to 2-3 pulldown.. would i 'see' any funkiness? what are the efffects of 2-3 or 2-3-3-2 if not set up 'correctly'

i decided to go with the MPG2, and see how that goes, that is what i normally do...
does architect like avi's or mpgs better? it just converts to mpg if it receives an avi correct?
sorry for the million questions...

Use the DVDA templates where it says "for out to DVD Architect" in the Main Concept MPEG2 section. You can include audio if its just for preview else use ac3

thats funny... i did chose DVD ARCHITECT NTSC WIDESCREEN

(changed the framerate to 24P, maybe that is my problem)
but when i loaded it into DVD arch.. it told me it would have to recompress my vid again?
is that because i chose the 24p in the render options?

here is what i have shot
HDV, in 24P, at 16:9
captured it, now what?
what is the best template to use for DVD standard deff.... (with audio of course)

im confused by the dvd arch ntsc widescreen and the dvd arch ntsc (no wide screen)
my camera shoots in native 16:9, so will i always chose a render profile that says 16:9...
it is mighty confusing...

i also dont understand how it can say 720x480 in normal NTSC and then say widescreen NTSC (and yet the rez settings are still at 720x480, does this have something to do with square versus rectangle pixles? and if so, which do i chose

thanks!

You are using the right template. Make sure it matches your project settings and render the audio to ac3 (no audio in mpeg) as this may be the recoding DVDA wants to do.

i might have misread it, but im pretty sure it said the VIDEO needs to be re-encoded.. i re-read it a couple times....

why is 720 by 480 ntsc the same as 720 by 480 ntsc WIDESCREEN the same rez numbers but different outcome?

and what about 24P? should i chose that as my frame rate in the render-as template? or chose 29.97?

thanks
