.AVI plays in VLC but VMS only loads audio

Would it be possible that a codec is available only to VLC but for some reason VMS doesn't have access to the codec?

Other .avi files work in Vegas, I don't know what the difference would be.

Any ideas how to Vegas to load the video for an .AVI file?
