AVI problem

Hi there...
I do have a problem with big AVI files. Don't know if it's because my system is FAT 32, but everytime I try to render a big AVI (let's say in pictures, about 2,000), the generated AVI is corrupted (both VEGAS / WMP cannot open the file). Do you know that apllication called Particle Illusion, so it happens there. Lightwave, have you hear about it? Same thing there. Lightwave which is a great 3D applc has other options to render AVI files (instead of rendering the animatin itself, you can render the whole thing as targa or LW TGA24 or 32). Does anybody know why this is happening? I suspect we cannot blame FAT 32 because the final AVI mentioned above is about 2,5 GB - too under the 4,0 GB limit. Help, please. Hey Spot, are you around here?????
Thanks in advance.

Try rendering your AVI in chunks, each smaller than 2 Gig. The <4 gig size in a FAT 32 system only works with Type 2 AVI.

So it must be that...by the way, what's the main difference between AVI type 1 (I suppose the other one is 1, isn't it?) and 2?
Thanks in advance.

Type 1 and Type 2 store the audio differently, I think.

To my understanding, Type 1 AVI stores the video and audio as one stream, and Type 2 stores two separate streams, enabling the 4 gig file size.

Now, there is also Type 1 and Type 2 DV AVI, which is something entirely different. Very Confusing!!

Yes, very confusing. Don't know why but my system (FAT 32) refuses to render an AVI bigger than 2 Gb. It renders the whole thing, BUT at the end, the file seems to be ill formed (it doesn't play) - that must be AVI type one since Particle Illusion, Lightwave and other applcs don't let you select the AVi type (if it's 1 or 2).
For the excellent Lightwave, I've found a solution: I'm rendering as targa / TGA (which is much safer, too). Same thing for Particle Illusion, but there, the bug is with the own software (bigger AVIs aren't allowed so most users seem to render their projects as targa sequence). As soon as I upgrade, I'll format the new system as NTFS. Thanks for your help, folks.
