AVI's captured w/Studio 8

I have AVI's that I would like to edit with VV4. I am unsure how to get just scenes on the timeline without dragging the whole AVI. Studio had the ability to detect scene by video content. Is there a workaround for this in VV4. I read the manual regarding media bins and trimmer tool, but not sure how to put the two together to create my own workaround.

Hi Victoria,

You might drag a selection, or use the I & O keys in the trimmer tool (highlights blue) and tap the R key to create a region (like a subclip).

You can drag that selection to the timeline or create more regions. To highlight a previously selected region, double-click between te region markers and then you can drag the region to the Timeline or tap the A key to Add to the timeline.

There are many ways to do most operations in Vegas, so you might try a few to see which works best for you.

I understand what you are asking.

Scenes detected in Studio are of no use in Vegas. You will have to split your scenes manually.

Also, in my opinion, it is easier to split your scenes on the timeline instead of the trimmer. I personally do not see much need for the trimmer.

Drag your file onto the timeline. Go to where you want in the file. Hit the "s" key. There's a split.

I too am a refugee from Studio8 but rather than split my scenes manually, I bought Scenalyzer (http://www.scenalyzer.com/) and it is now an indispensible part of my work flow.

It goes one better than Studio - it saves each scene as a separate AVI.
