Is it possible to show the individual AVI's filename sequence number in the rendered MPEG2 file? This would be helpful for picking out highlights from a High School football game, currently I use the timecode.
If you apply the Timecode effect from Video FX to your AVI file on the timeline, render the AVI file to MPG2, you should still be able to view the timecode (frame #) in your MPG2 file.
I take it you do not mean Image Sequence with is a different thing...kind of.
When recording sporting events (Football, Volleyball) I start recording right before the football is snappped to the quarterback, after the play is completed I stop recording. So for one football game I might have 200 plus AVI files downloaded to my PC. I then place each individual AVI files on the timeline, one after the next. I then render the entire football game to a MPEG2 file which also displays the the timecode from Vegas (not from the tape). Then another person will view the MPEG2 file and jot down the timecode for plays which they would like to keep for a later highlight video. Once I get the timecodes from this person, I then go back into Vegas to see which AVI files need to be save based on the timecodes jotted down for a later video.
What I would like to see displayed in the rendered MPEG2 file is the AVI file sequence number ( 003 ) when that particular AVI file is being viewed. Then
I could just save certain AVI files and delete the rest.
Since another person (the coach) picks out the highlights, if the AVI file sequence number could be displayed in the lower right-hand corner of the MPEG2 file while they viewed it, this would save me a great deal of time when pulling out the "Highlights" of a sporting event. The coach would then just jot down the sequence number which would relate back to my AVI file names.
