avi to image file

I need to send a couple of my scenes to a film conversion facility to be tested and evaluated for future scanning to 35mm film, and naturally they require image files. My question is, how should I best convert my 1080p avi events into an image file? I've never dealt with image files before.

Find the frame you want to export as an image file and move the cursor there so it's displayed in the preview window. Set the preview to Best / Full. Click on the floppy disk icon over the top right corner of the preview. This will bring up a Save As dialog box and let you save that frame as either a .jpg or .png file.

I hadn't made myself clear; the outfit needs image sequence files. I don't quite understand the concept of an image sequence event. How are image sequences edited and kept as separate events? If I were to edit a film with image sequences, would that entail just this ongoing string of thousands of images, and if so, how is that exported for scanning; in a folder?
