AVI to SWF size problem?

MadMikey wrote on 5/16/2004, 8:56 PM
I'm trying to make a banner, approx. 600x85 pixels for a web page. This will end up as an SWF file(will have video motion in it). I've created the banner in Vegas5, rendered then converted to SWF but it's full 720x480 with black space above and below the banner itself.

So how do I or can I size the renedered AVI file to the 600x85 (the size of the banner in pixels) or is this not possible?? I need to render as AVI so I can convert it to SWF.

Thanks for your help.

First I set the project size to 600X85, progressive (optional), square pixels. When I'm done editing and ready for output I want to render to AVI. Click custom and click into the video tab. Most choices are greyed out until you select "Uncompressed" in the Video Format drop down menu. For frame Size use project settings. Here I also choose progressive and square pixel. Now it shold have the dimensions you want. Click ok and render.

If your converter can't read the AVI-file try unchecking the "Create an OpenDML compatible file" found in the same video tab.

Related question: when something is render uncompressed, does the audio come across in the render, or is this only for a video render. Do you have to render the audio separately.

Either way you wish. You can include either the audio only, the video only, or both.

Thanks Tommy,

I did get it to work but did have problems with the size of the project not exactly matching my banner size. Could have been because I didn't use the square pixel setting. I'll try that and see...

Thanks so much for your help.

Sure thing Mikey. I think it is the square pixel thing since computers and their monitors work with that and the non-square is for video and TV-screens. Let us know if I'm right, ok.
