avi to vhs capture?

I have a pyro a/v link and have tried to use Print to Tape to get an avi file back into vhs format on a vcr machine.
But alas, nothing seems to get transferred to the vcr.
I have checked settings with tech support at pyro and they say all is fine.
So, does anyone know any special software settings within veags 5 that need to be adjusted to make this thing work?
VHS to "vegas capture works fine.
Thanks!

Do you have a monitor / TV connected to the output of the VHS deck so you can if anything is being sent to the deck?
Not that familiar with the ADS box but most likely also you need to tell it to go from Capture to Playback.

Is the VCR on Line In or channel AUX?

You need to figure out if the VCR is set to receive a signal FROM the xfer box. If all else fails - if you have a faulty box then you could also print to tape and then play the camcorder into the vcr as it records.

Bob, I capture from analog and print back to analog via my ADS A/V Link all the time so it does work fine with Vegas 5. Forgive me if I restate the obvious but I don’t want to miss any details.

To print to tape with the A/V Link you have to have it connected via the 6 pin firewire connector on the back of the unit. (NOT the 4 pin one in the front labeled DV in) You also have to connect an RCA cable from the Video and Audio L/R on the BACK of the A/V Link (not ones on the front which are for capture) to you VCR.

If you have any type of external TV that you can plug into the RCA cable that would help you test if the video is being sent through the unit or not without getting the VCR involved. I use a small portable DVD player for this (it has an input so you can use the screen for display) If you don't have anything you can use to check at this point, continue to the next step of hooking up the VCR.

Finally you have to connect the Line In of your VCR to the other end of the RCA cable coming from the back of the A/V Link. If the input is on the back of your VCR, you should set the VCR channel to Line In 1. If your VCR has inputs on the front and you plug into these, then you usually have to set the VCR input to Line In 2.

So to summarize the connections:

1. Firewire out of computer to 6-pin firewire connector on BACK of A/V Link
2. RCA cables from Video and Audio L/R on the BACK of the A/V Link to the Line In of your VCR
3. Set your VCR to record from the same input (LINE1 or LINE2) as you plugged the RCA cable into

Thanks for the quick response.
I actually have tried this and still doesn't tape to vhs.
I don't have an exteranal monitor connected up, but i am going to see if I can set that up.
Do you know if there needs to be any specific settings in vegas? i.e. dv device connected?
I have the mode on pryo set to analog.
Thanks again.
