You should be able to navigate in SF to import avi1 thro media pool. If you're having probs there's a nifty avi converter - Canopus - (which I think P_L gave me - thanks) which may help: http://www.canopus.com/US/products/DV_file_converter/pm_dv_file_converter.asp

I've used video captured by Pinnacle Studio in VF, so you should be ok.

I use Studio7 - earlier than 8! I don't need to convert Studio7 AVIs prior to bringing them into VF.

I heard the Pinnacle 7 is Type 2 AVI, But Pinnacle has mad a change for the better to TYPE 1 AVI, I really dont know what type MPeg 2 they use but the SVCD and VCD is outstanding, I like the use of VF for editting and slowing down clips. But Pinnacle for the Final Rendering,
