Avid DNxHD question

So I've got the DNxHD codec loaded on my computer and everything works fine. I'm just wondering if I'm rendering to the DNx115 codec?

I've got two choices for rendering; half quality and high quality. The only difference I can see in the codec menu is that the quality slider is at 50% for half and 100% for high which sounds reasonable.

In my tests the file sizes are exactly the same for half and high quality and the footage looks the same - it looks great but no difference.

I know we got some Avid cats here and I'm trying to dial in my "handing stuff off to Avid" workflow. Any info would be great, seems everything is working fine I'm just trying to anticipate questions and figure out the quality question. Tips and tricks are also appreciated.

Thanks for any info!

You have more than a dozen choices in the DNxHD codec... my guess is that you are not seeing them because of the little display bug. When you select the Avid DNxHD codec, a window pops up. At the bottom of that window is just a little sliver of a pulldown menu. Click that and all should become clear.

And ALWAYS set the slider to 100%.

Yes! The sliver! Thanks for the heads up Perrone. Boy, that is a tricky little bug.
